Pesarattu (moong dal crepe)

December 27, 2007

Ingredients

1 cup moong dal (split covered, whole or split uncovered)

2 tbsp rice flour

ginger

few green chillies

salt to taste

For tempering

1 Onion

Jeera (cumin seeds)

Method:

Soak the moong dal in hot warm for 3-4 hours. Grind the moong dal with rice flour and salt. Crush the ginger and green chillies and add them to the grounded batter. The consistency should be that of regular dosas. Spread them like regular dosas and let the dosa cook slowly on one side.

Before turning the dosa, temper it with diced onions, diced green chillies and cumin seeds and let the other side cook.

Serve it hot with ginger chutney.
